Personal I'm Steve Shaw I live
(and spend far too much time working both professionally and personally
with Oracle and open source software) in the UK. I am married with
2 pre-school aged children. In my spare time I enjoy sport and running
and in the past have done a couple of marathons. I am long retired
from Sunday League football but continue to support the mighty Tranmere
Rovers the North West's premier football (soccer for any US visitors!)
team.

Technical
I'm Steve Shaw and for over 10 years have specialised in working with
the Oracle database. I have a background with Oracle on various flavours
of UNIX including HP-UX, Sun Solaris and my own personal favourite Dynix/ptx
on Sequent. I have worked with Oracle exclusively on Linux since 2000.
Over the years I have done various UNIX and Linux certifications such as
Sun Solaris Certified Administrator and RHCE (Red Hat Certified
Engineer). I am currently an Oracle Certifed DBA and have a
Masters Degree in Computing from the University of Bradford in the UK. I am also an MCDBA (Microsoft Certified DBA in SQL Server)
which has given me one of the best educations in understanding Oracle by
looking at databases from another perspective.
I am the author of Hammerora which can be downloaded from the
sourceforge. Hammerora is an open source Oracle load test tool that
performs multi-user load test simulations against Oracle databases
including a feature that can parse and replay Oracle database trace
files. Particularly popular appears to be the interpretation of the TPC-C
benchmark to enable Oracle users to perform their own real-world load
tests.
